We are an assisted living location that specializes in Memory Care and has an Alzheimer's Designation. This culinary position requires some direct interaction with the residents and requires a kind and gentle individual who derives personal satisfaction from caring for others. The Cook must also possess patience and understanding to interact with residents with dementia. Because Cooks interact directly with the residents, it is also important that they display a positive attitude and have an outgoing personality, and of course must maintain a professional appearance and adhere to strict hygiene standards.
Our kitchens are residential in layout with commercial equipment. Our cooks prepare three meals and three snacks a day.
If you are a culinary trained individual it is a plus but not required for this position. The ideal candidate for this position may also come from a background of a school cafeteria, corporate lunchroom, or a restaurant that serves a buffet style meal. The menu here is from scratch but very "comfort food" in style. These are the entrees that our residents ate growing up like chicken fried steak, meatloaf, or fried catfish.
